Little Cocoa Goes Boho

It wasn’t just a ‘night at the museum’ when Boho Luxe Market and Boho Bride came to Brisbane for the first time.

Instead, Brisbane’s historic and heritage-listed Old Museum was buzzing with creatives, market stalls, wedding vendors and food trucks from Friday afternoon through to Sunday afternoon.

The weather held (mostly) so thousands of visitors could enjoy pop-up market stalls both inside the vast interior spaces of this grand old building and outside in the marquees and vans.

Wedding and event stylists @boho.sisters worked their magic under blue skies and a magnificent old tree.

The gardens were bursting with natural bright colours while florals of all varieties – dried and fresh, natives and exotics, in bold and muted tones – were the number one styling feature for the event.

What is it about flowers that make them both the perfect backdrop and eye-catching centrepieces at any event?

Their natural beauty certainly fits with true boho values and flowers add a sense of abundance and joy to most occasions.

An impressive floral swag by @gardengraffiti greeted visitors to the Boho Bride room and caused many people to stop and take a second look or a sneaky pic.

On a more intimate scale, sell-out flower crown workshops by @fleetwoodfringe proved conclusively that flowers can make any girl, at any age, feel like a blissed out princess.

Vegan Chocolate Pralines Proved Popular

Little Cocoa was invited by Boho Bride to show off our artisan chocolate pralines which make such delectable wedding favours and gifts. Learn more about our wedding favours here.

We thought Boho Bride might be a good place to test one of our new products – a dairy free, vegan friendly coconut chocolate praline. And sure enough, there was enough interest for us to continue to develop this product line. A vegan in the family helps too!

The fact that we hand-make our gorgeous chocolates with some freestyling artistry, but always with an emphasis on fresh and high quality ingredients, certainly echoes the boho spirit.

So it was with a lot of enthusiasm that we set up what was really our first market stall.

We were delighted with the floral arrangement that @gardengraffiti created for our mock wedding table – tiny pots of pale pink roses, carnations, waxflowers, grevilleas, dahlias and more set against soft eucalyptus leaves and wattle fronds.

On our table settings we displayed some examples of our personalised wedding favours – two dreamy and delicious chocolate pralines inside our white gloss packaging embossed with the names of couples or special messages.

We also showed off our six and 12-piece gift boxes which attracted some interesting comments like “Is it chocolate chocolate?” and “They’re too pretty to eat.”

Chocolate pralines are fine shells of chocolate encasing a variety of soft and textured fillings such as rich chocolate ganache, fruit gels, salted caramel or nuts.

The high gloss that captures people’s attention comes from getting the tempering of the chocolate just right, the care taken to polish the chocolate molds, and from the cocoa butter we use to add distinctive colours to our chocolate pralines.

Yes it’s chocolate and yes, they’re pretty – but we also want people to eat and enjoy them.

Meet some of the tribe

Events like Boho Bride provide an opportunity to meet new people – both couples planning their special day and other vendors in the wedding industry. Some of the other wedding exhibitors included:

• Zoe from @confetticakeco_ tells us she’s done a lot of research on what flowers are safe to use as cake toppers on her stunning tiered wedding cakes. The pompom flowers won us over with their cuteness factor. And we can certainly confirm that her cakes are delicious – try the spiced caramel if you get a chance.
• It was great to catch up again with marriage celebrant @ceremonaweddings who was looking fabulous in her floaty sleeves, fringed jacket and flower-treated hat.
• We also met the design team from @foxandfallow who’ve created a classy wedding planner for the brides who like to temper their free spirit with a budget and a bit of organisation. They’re even considering our suggestion of creating more space in the planner for wedding favours.
• And we loved the vegan Peace and Love Sandals on display at @foreversoles. Boho beautiful strappy shoes for your wedding day and beyond. They come in a gorgeous shade of blush which we think blends quite nicely with Little Cocoa’s corporate colours.
• There was plenty to explore in Boho Bride and the extensive Boho Luxe Market including lots of fabulous fashion for young and old, handcrafted jewellery and artisan homewares.

And did we mention that the venue was spectacular? Dating from 1891, the Old Museum’s has variously been a museum, an art gallery and more recently a performance venue and rehearsal space.
